A Prayer That I May Reflect God's Light
Prayer for March 2

O God, my Heavenly Father,
Your love for me is clear,
For You sent Your son, Jesus Christ,
To be my redeemer.
Help me to be able to live today
And every day, thankfully
For what You have done
And are doing for me.
In all my temptations,
Trials, and duties,
Teach me to see Your grace,
Which is sufficient for me
And seeking it to use it
Lest I fall into sin's darkness,
Or fail to obey Your command.
Help me to remember
That as Christ is light*
And his life has given me light
So I am to be a light**
To the dark world.
Let not my life deny You
While I confess You with my lips.
Increase my faith,
My hope and my love;
And use me just as You will,
Whenever and wherever
As Your instrument
For Your glory
And for the Gospel.

*"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12.

**"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." Matthew 5:14

A Prayer to See God More Clearly. September 28

A Prayer to See God More Clearly, a Prayer for September 28

Dear Father
I am made in Your image;
Designed for companionship
With You.
My greatest joy is
Your nearness.
Let me become more intimate with You.
Help me to surrender my needs to You.
Protect me from drifting
From Your care
Keep me from sin and its pain.
Help me to grow
Through today's trials
And to remain hopeful,
For You are daily deliverance.
When You give material blessings
Remind me
They come from Your hand.
Give courage when I need it,
And strength to perform my daily task
However small as service unto You.
May all these things become my teachers
So I may see You more clearly
Through them.

Prayer of the Devoted Disciple Prayer for September 3rd

The Prayer of The Devoted Disciple, Prayer for September 3rd

Father of Blessings, God of all the Good,
Show kindness to me, a mere lowly man.
Keep away things that call me from Your side.
Forgive my doubts in Your good purposes.
Give me courage to hold Your hand in faith.
I know You designed this day for my good.
Grant me the wisdom to live today well.
May I experience You in this day.
And honor You in every thought and deed.
Be gentle with my many weaknesses.
Give me the courage to choose to do good.
And though I stumble into new defeats
Forgive me when I ask You for mercy.
May I become more devoted to You,
And more zealous for the good of all men.
Cause me to remember You in all things
And to give You the true service of praise.
The Devote Disciple
Give me a passionate heart for men’s souls
So I may lift up those who are oppressed;
And embrace the sorrows of those who grieve
And to comfort the hearts of those who mourn.
When this day closes help me to find pause,
And remember all the blessings You brought.
I’ll present to You the service of thanks.
From a heart that You filled overflowing.

I like this honest and open prayer. There are many little truths that can help any disciple of the Lord Jesus. It is important to pray for our growth in devotion.  We often start our life of faith with zeal only to slowly give way to mundane disciplines; we need to often reaffirm to ourselves and God our devotion and move on to a mature passion. Devotion to God is empty without service to men who He created and loved. One of the most loving things we can do for others is to pray for them. Prayer must be coupled with lifting the burdens of others and leading them to a saving faith in Jesus. If we are not devoted to humankind we cannot say we are devoted to God.

Prayer of The Pilgrim, a Prayer for December 18

Prayer Of The Pilgrim, Prayer for December 15

Almighty King and living God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
I rejoice to be Your child.
Look with love and mercy on me,
Keep me in Your loving embrace.
Give grace to resist the devil,
And to stand against all his works.
Lead me away from temptation,
Guard me from the lust of the flesh,
Shield me from the traps of sin.
Keep my path straight through this world.
Make me diligent in my work,
And faithful in my character
Keep me patient under trial,
Calm me when I feel anxious,
Guide me to peace when tested.
In sickness be my healing,
In every weakness be my strength.
Unto you I offer each thought.
May my every word be for You,
And let each act serve You alone,
Be You the blessing of my ways.

It is a simple prayer and full of reliance on God, it is not the prayer of a celebrity leader but of a common person who seeks to live for God in their daily living. It asks God to help us to be faithful to him while being in a world that is not, because we are in the world but not of it.  We want to oppose the evils we see around us, and we also must gain victory over the old sin nature in us, and in this prayer we acknowledge God is the source that overcomes both.

I hope you are encouraged by this little prayer. Meditate on its statements, and pray it in your own words.

Prayer For A Difficult Day A Prayer for February 22

Prayer For A Difficult Day. Prayer for February 22

You set before me a new day,
With countless opportunities;
And much potential to do good.
You have already filled this day
With your bountiful provision.
When I ponder today's duties
I will ask for Your guiding hand.
Let me not face today's struggles
Without Your strong upholding arm.*
Let me not make foolish choices
By failing to seek Your counsel.
When I am in desperate danger
I will rely on Your strong arm.+
If today, You grant me success
I will praise You for such mercy.
If You let today end poorly
I will declare Your will is good;
And know Your plan for me is love.
Though it may be a day of dread
I rejoice to see Your will done;
I will show the love of my God
That is as bright in tragedy
As when peace shines like a spring dawn.
If all of my world crumbles
I will declare God rules wisely
When this hard day is finished,
(Be it for joy or my sorrow),
May all I have done bring Him praise
As I give thanks to God, my King
The sure Rock that will never move.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
    he delivers them from all their troubles.  Psalm 34:17

*Psalm 20:6  + Isaiah 41:10

We all face difficult and even tragic days. I hope this little prayer helps. God is watching with loving eyes. He has a plan for each season, and his plan is for our good. He is the rock that won't be moved so we can stand confidently on him. There are many purposes in our difficult days. Sometimes, we need to avow that no matter what, we will choose to love God and serve him. Sometimes, we need to grow out of our own selves and mature. We do not know all the counsels of God, but he is good, and though it sounds trite and overused, it is still true - we need to trust him. When it is over and done with, we need to resolve no matter what, God is still worthy of praise and service.

A Prayer For Universal Good Prayer for December 27.

A Prayer For Universal Good, Prayer for the day December 27

Father, in Heaven You are Lord of all
May You watch over mankind with patience,
Give me strength to overcome all evil,
Help me to cleave to those things which are good.
Help me shine Your light by noble deeds
So men may see them and give You worship.
Bless those who toil humbly in Your name,
And bless all who serve Your kingdom of love.
Give more laborers a vision to serve,
Bless the many efforts by those of faith.
Favor our nation and those who guide it.
Give our leaders rare virtue and wisdom,
And add to their hearts courage to do right,
Grant them vision for the best of our land;
Help them to promote righteousness at home,
And set a standard of virtue for all.
Watch over all the nations of the earth,
May their statesmen be fountains of blessing,
Bring peace and harmony to all nations.
Let the knowledge of the Lord fill the earth.
May all men have freedom to worship God.
And to live lives of peace, and to prosper.
May each heart bow to the Prince of Peace,
And every hand serve Christ- the King of Kings.

Prayer To Serve God, Prayer for October 28

Prayer to Serve God,  A Prayer for October 28

Father God of Design and Purpose;
You created man for Your pleasure,
To bring You glory and to serve You.
May I serve You with all of my heart;
And not because I'm obligated,
But because You are gracious and good.
Make my service to You pure and true,
Not tainted by my own agenda.
Serving You is a blessing to me;
In it I find my life's true meaning,
And it is a joy to obey You.
Let me serve You with my every thought,
And with every deed of this one day.
May my service be pleasing to You,
And be a blessing unto others.
If You have for me some great mission
May I do it with awe and reverence;
If my service is in humble chores
May I do them well and cheerfully.
Let my actions show that I love You.
Thank You for the blessing of service.

"Serve the Lord with gladness come into his presence with singing." Psalm 100:2.

Prayer For The Worker, a Prayer for Oct 24

A Prayer For The Worker, Prayer for October 24

Father, thank You for Your rich blessings
And Your steady kindness toward me.
Each morning gives hope of success.
I want to start this day right with You,
Let me sense Your nearness and guidance.
Give me firmness in times of testing,
When I may find you there at my side.
May I walk in the path of Your will;
Knowing Your designs are for my good.
May Your wise purpose always guide me.
Let me not yield to temptation.
Give me solid resolve to do right,
Lend me strength for today's duties.
Guide me in school, home, and in business.
Bless the work and toil of this day,
That I may serve others as You would.
Prosper me in the fruit of my work.
Let me use my gains to bless others.
May Your Spirit be felt in my home,
And make it a refuge from toil.

As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. John 9:4

A Prayer to Carry God's Light, a prayer for October 10

 John 1:5 NIV

A Prayer To Carry God's Light, A Prayer for October 10

Oh, God, in You is no hint of darkness,
And no darkness can stand against Your light.
Help me to faithfully walk in Your light.
Direct me in every thought, action, and deed,
That I may show Jesus' love to those I meet.
Shine brightly where the darkness hides Your truth.
And let the sunshine of truth enter all hearts.
May Your light deliver those in darkness,
And bring hope to those who are in despair.
May the gospel message of Your love sing out;
In notes more clear and pure than ever before,
I commit myself to Your divine service.
I will lift the burdens of the downtrodden,
And work for the building up of Your kingdom.
May I faithfully bear Your banner of light.
And guide others toward You in this dark age.
Bring me safely through today's dangers and tests;
Firm in Your victory to this day's last glow.

"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all."  1 John 1:5 NIV.

I hope this little meditation inspires you. I suggest you read it a few times and think about it. In your prayer, try to be conversational with God and talk to him about the different statements.

Prayer for June 28 A Prayer For God To Use Me

Prayer For God To Use Me. June 28

Dear heavenly Father,
I come now in prayer,
And give joyful thanks
For My Savior Jesus;
The very Lamb of God
Sacrificed for my sin.
I come with confession
And mourn for my sin,
Only You can cleanse me,
And fit me to serve you.
May I serve faithfully.
Let me sense Your presence,
And see clearly Your lead.
May I feel Your peace,
And walk in Your favor.
Use me in Your service.
I will be Your temple,
Filled by Your Spirit;
Giving You the worship
Of living Sacrifice.
My lips shall speak for You,
My hands shall work for You,
My heart shall beat for You.
My feet will bear Your light
To the ones in darkness.
I am Yours, please use me
To bring Your Kingdom near,
And proclaim Your Gospel,
That all know Jesus Christ
As their True King and Lord.

Prayer for May 11 A Prayer to be Guided by God's Hand

A PRAYER TO BE GUIDED BY GOD'S HAND, A Prayer For May 11

My Father, You are worthy of all honor and praise,
And I desire to worship You in spirit and in truth;
Guide me to seek You in this quiet hour of prayer.
Your hand guarded me since I first called You Lord,
And beneath its shadow I am protected with care.
Now point my heart to the duties of just this one day.
May Your hand gently guide mine in all that I must do,
And in all that I do lead me to bring You glory.
Lift from my heart anything that may quench Your Spirit,
And may Your Holy Spirit overflow upon me.
Your have measured out to me undeserved blessings.
May my life be a living statement of gratitude.
Come and dwell in my heart as its master forever.
Hold me well lest I fall in temptation and trial,
And may Your strong arm be my shield from every harm.
When today is done may I look back and see Your hand.
When all my days are spent may Your hand lift me above.

This poem prayer was inspired by John 10:28, No one will snatch them out of my hand.

In this prayer, I reflect that God is holding us in his hand and by his hand he has provided for us blessings, met our needs and given his protection. The goal of our pilgrimage on the earth is to walk it as if we were children holding our Heavenly Father's hand on the path of life; so that he guides us over the rough spots and we enjoy him over the smooth places. We are already in his hand when we come to him through faith in his son Jesus and His atoning death and resurrection. To acknowledge the truth of God's provision, care, and guidance makes us ready to receive it in abundance and to recognize it where we may not have already seen it. We may ask God for guidance and not like the direction he is taking us but we must still live for God, glorify, and serve him. It is safe to put our hands in God's hand to have him move us as he sees fit, not only safe but wise. Our eternal hope is not in the working of the deeds done by our hands but by the piercing of his on the cross where he paid for our sin.

The Prayer of a Humble Man. A Prayer For April 30th

The PRAYER OF A HUMBLE MAN. A Prayer for April 30th

I thank You, Heavenly Father,
For the peace You gave through the night,
And for the light of this new day.
You are all gracious, good, and wise;
You meet all my need and comfort,
For food, clothing, and all blessings.
Grant me the grace I need today
And strength for my every duty.
Lead me away from temptations,
For I don't know what this day holds.
Help me to honor You today,
In every thought, act, word, and deed.
Make alive "Your Word" in my heart,
That I may not sin against you.*
May Your Holy Spirit guide me
That I may fulfill Your good will.
Protect and defend me from harm,
For only You give victory.
And when the day's labor is done,
Bring me back safely to my home,
Where I will worship You, my God
And lay down to sleep in Your peace.

A Prayer of a Submissive Heart A Prayer for April 27th

A PRAYER IF A SUBMISSIVE HEART. Prayer for April 27th.

Almighty God I worship you
And give heartfelt praise to Your name.
I thank You that through Jesus Christ,
My Savior, my Friend, and Sovereign,
You have now become my Father,
I ask that I feel your presence
As I go through this gift of today.
Help me to trust You more each day.
Help me submit all things to You,
Please accompany me this day,
So today may be full of You
And a step nearer to heaven.
In my going forth be my light
And be my guide and my defense.
Give me grace I need for today.
Though You send the days as You will;
Temper days of darkens and storm,
With the days of brightness and peace.
I give myself into Your hand,
To be instructed, and guided;
May You fulfill Your will for me,
Just as it is done in heaven.
Make my life a song of Your praise,
For You are the joy of my soul
Through grace in Christ Jesus my Lord.

A little commentary.
In our independence driven age we feel offended and frightened by the idea of submitting to authority. We will grow in submission to our loving God when we grow closer to him because as we grow to know him we will desire to submit to him and obey. Submitting to God is a source of blessing and joy. Submission to God starts with giving ourselves to God in devotion then we can give our actions to him.

A Prayer At The End of Day - April 29th

PRAYER AT THE END OF THE DAY, Prayer for April 29

Thank You, God, for Your Fatherhood,
    And that You have opened my eyes to life
    Through faith in Jesus Christ, my Savior.
By Your grace, I finish another day
    And I come to it full of thanksgiving.
Thank You that Your care followed me all-day-
    Thank You for life, health, and all Your blessings.
Forgive the sins and wrongs of this past day-
    All the moments I failed to keep faith,
    And the times I was thoughtless to others,
    When I lacked kindness, consideration
    And when I was not helpful to others.
Blessed Father, keep guard over me
    And watch all through the dark hours.
Bless me with peace as I lay down to sleep,
    Awake me in safety for another day.
May the morrow bring me closer to You.
Let me grow daily as I walk in You,
And may I better understand Your ways.
    elp me each day to find the path of life,
    And every day, make me more like Jesus.

You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.
                        Isaiah 26:3 NIV©

We should end the day with Thanksgiving and at the start of the day with Thanksgiving.

A Prayer of Devotion - a prayer for April 28th

A PRAYER OF DEVOTION, Prayer for April 28

Dear God and, Heavenly Father.
You made mankind for Your glory,
Yet we are the objects of Your care.
You are ever thoughtful of me,
More than I could be of myself.
I am conscious of my weakness,
I let temptations conquer me.
And I often live in shadows,
Where I am drawn from doing right.
Show me my heart's own deceptions.
Help me to repent of my sin.
Awaken a longing for You.
And for service unto Your name.
Help me to remember this truth-
Only You satisfy my heart.
May I give God my very best,
And put Your mark in every task.
Lest I steal the praise due to You.
When the path of the day seems hard
Give me Your help to stay faithful.
May I help bring forth Your kingdom,
That all men may know You as Lord.
May Your will be done in my life,
So my life may bring to You Glory.
Through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.

Devotional prayer has become a lost art in our modern age. We do not take the time to reverently dwell on the wonders, beauty, and grace of God. I offer this prayer of dedication and devotion to give you some guidelines to base your own devotional prayer. This devotional prayer is one not of giving words of worship but of giving oneself to God.

A Prayer for March 21 A Prayer For The Power of Forgiveness In Me

Prayer For The Power Of Forgiveness In Me Prayer for March 21

Help me, Father, to draw near as Your child.
Give me a deep desire to seek Your face.
Remove the barriers that keep me from You.
Be merciful and forgive my transgressions.
Cleanse my heart by the power of Your Spirit,
Free me from sin that I may better see You,
And I will rejoice in Your loving mercy,
And bring glory to Your Holy Name.
May I live the truth that I am dead to sin,
And made alive by Christ unto righteousness.
I have been forgiven much, so help me respond
By forgiving those who have wrongs against me.
Your forgiveness frees me to serve others,
And do good by the power of Your Spirit.
Let me be a blessing to those who struggle,
And act as You would- with love toward all men;
Help me keep my eyes on the heavenly goal
Of introducing Your mercy to others.

A little Commentary:  This prayer is full of truths. We all need to be forgiven and we must thereafter become people who forgive. We start with our dependency on God and going right into the need to seek God to become more intimate with him. We must be sensitive to those things that keep us from God, call them sin, or whatever we have to deal with them effectively in order to open the power of forgiveness in our lives. We all need to make confession and accept God's forgiveness. We should be humble before God. We need to be forgiving and have a servant attitude, and to love. Our lives should be holding God's hand in one of ours and reaching out to other people with our other hand.

A Prayer for March 4, A Prayer for God to Empower His Servants

A Prayer for Empowerment, A Prayer For The Day of March 4

Lord, You are The "Resurrection and The Life,"
Revive me by Your resurrection.
And grant me to live a life devoted to You.
Fill me with the power of Your Spirit
And renewal so I may celebrate Your gift of life.
Lift up my mind to high and pure thoughts.
Show me those things that quench Your spirit,
So I may repent and turn back to You.
Teach me to pray with true fervor.
May I hear Your Spirit speak through Your Word.
May all of my actions proclaim Your love.
May I tell how Your resurrection brings hope,
And not be ashamed to call Jesus mine.
May I follow Your way of humble love,
Holy service and sincere forgiveness;
And give myself to serve Your children.
May I work beside any who love Your Truth,
And bring Your light to this dark world.
Fill me with Your strength to face each day,
And bear up those who may have fallen.
May I do good only in Jesus' name-
And never seek for my own glory.

The Prayer of a Heart During Trial. A Prayer for March 6

A prayer for March 6

A Prayer for the Heart During Trial.

Dear God, You shine the very dawn's light during my testing
Comfort me as I stumble solo through paths of grim shadows.
Teach me the trust of God which delivers from dreadful fear.
I confess that my faith in You has frequently faltered,
And I trusted in my own schemes instead of Your wisdom.
I regret that I have relied on my own weak efforts.
You have promised that the joy of the Lord shall be my strength.*
Teach me of the power of walking with You in purity,
And forgive my arrogant sin of doubting of Your love.
May I not worry- but be conscious of Your companionship
Guide me gently through another painful experience.
Grant me the heavenly peace of Christ in my anxious heart,
And lend courage and endurance for today's darkest test.
Renew and refresh me through faith to rest in Your grace
And prepare me to receive the fullness of Your blessing.
Lead me, to the green pastures and beside the still waters,
That my spirit may be restored at the well of Your Love;
For because of this test I will serve You more worthily
And to bring You glory in the name Of Jesus Christ.
AMEN

This prayer is full of devotion and expresses that the companionship of God is the source of fullness and blessing in our lives.

You may print a copy for your personal use.

After you are comfortable with the words you may want to pray this in your own words or let it be a guide for your personal prayer.

Heavenly Father of Creation,
My God who alone saves sinners;
I come before You as Your child,
To bring the sacrifice of praise,
And the worship of thanksgiving.
You alone are my Creator.

Keep me from forgetting Your love,
And Your righteous claims upon me.
May I welcome my daily task
And do all my work in Your sight.

Prepare me to do any service
To show my love for my Savior.

Awake me, that I may seek first
Your kingdom and Your righteousness.**

And know that Your best awaits me.
In Jesus, my Lord's name, Amen.

A Prayer for November 13 - The Penitent Disciple

The Penitent Disciple, A Prayer for November 13

All Gracious Lord, my True Father in Heaven,
I bless You for every single day
That my lowly life has been highly lifted
By the knowledge of the Gospel.
Thank You that Jesus opened my eyes to God
And revealed my own sin to me;
Until I cried out for gracious pardon,
And found forgiveness at the cross.
Oh Lord, I have tried to do Your holy will,
But I have failed so many times.
Now I come before you confessing my sins
And find forgiveness through Jesus' blood.
May I give patient thought to my willful self
And my nature to jump into sin,
Grant me the heart to be humble before you;
Help me repent, resolve, and renew.
Fill me anew with Your sweet Holy Spirit,
So that I may delight in Your ways,
And enable me in my daily routine
To proclaim the Gospel of Christ's love.
May I carry the name of Jesus with me
And not flinch back from doing my part;
To bring forward that day when, by Your grace,
All men's hearts are ruled by Christ's love.
