PRAYER TO FIND GOD'S WILL
A Prayer For April 16

My God, and Father I come to You
With a heart overfilled with thanks
For all the mercy You do show me
And for the blessings, You give to me-
Who could be worthy of Your great love?
I have such weakness, flaws, and need;
I can plead only for Your grace
Which you give freely to all who come.
It makes me humble that You call me
To be Your child, and made Your heir.
You are my helper when I face each test,
By Your strength alone I can go on.
Give me Your guidance at all times;
Show me Your presence when I doubt.
Draw my heart closer to Your own heart,
May all my thinking meld with Your word
Lead by Your mighty hand at all times,
And may Your Spirit guide all my steps,
And make me ready to go and serve.
Teach me to follow and do Your will.
To give You service is my one joy
You are my purpose and all I am.

MAY I LIVE THIS DAY WELL FOR GOD, A Prayer for April 6

Oh God, and Father, Lord of Mercy
It was Your mercy that sent Jesus
To be the Savior of all mankind.
And by Your goodness, I am redeemed.
Now I am able to bring worship
And to give service to Your Kingdom.
I bring You worship for my Savior.
And give thanksgiving for these blessings
This thanks is deeper than words only
But all my actions are its language.
Where there is doubting in my thinking
Then may You banish all the shadows.
Guard me against danger as I travel.
When I sin forgive my grave trespass.
When I fall rescue me from evil.
Make my heart open to Your presence.
Help me to ponder what is noble,
Give me the courage to speak rightly
When light is needed in the darkness,
Then this sad world may see the Gospel
And find the promise of Christ's passion.
When this long busy day is over
May it be finished in good conscience,
And bring You worthy praise and honor.

Oh, Lord God of all Blessing,
Help my heart to be grateful
For all that You have given
And for Christ my dear Savior.
Keep me free from sin's guile.
Give to me my bread daily
And some more for the needy.
Teach me that this day's value
Is made great in great service.
Give to my eyes Your vision.
Let my ears hear Your whisper.
And may love for You direct
All of my words and actions.

Thank you, God, for loving me
And in that love saving me.
My best deeds are filthy rags

The debt for my shameful ways.
By love I am washed white

God and Heavenly Father I come to You
And I acknowledge afresh You are my God
I am comforted knowing that Christ loves me.
Help me continue closely at Your right side,
To give thanksgiving, worship, and praise to You.
By grace overlook mistakes made in my haste,
For Your forgiveness reaches to the high stars.
Teach me repentance over all of my sins.
Let no pollution enter my heart or mind.
Keep sin's decadence away- lest I join in.

My God and my Father,
May I bring You glory

That our task is sowing
That Word which is living.
May I join the harvest

CELEBRATING LOVE, Prayer for April 1st


My Lord, and my Father God
I thank You for loving me.
Your love has no breaking point
It is like a fortress strong.
You show love in many ways
None more bright than Jesus' death.
I can trust You no matter what.
When life starts to appear bad
I know Your love directs good.
May love teach and instruct me
That I and love become one.
Your love lifts my daily task
Till each chore is noble work.
Help my life to reflect love,
So that in it others see
A life that speaks Gospel words.
Make me bold to struggle on-
For Your love makes darkness light;
And gives hope to humble men.

Dear Father, You are in highest Heaven
And nearer than my whispered word.
I come before to You in Jesus name
Who alone who is my Lord and Savior.
I come offering deepest thanksgiving
For Your loving-kindness and Your mercy.
My heart is overfull with gratitude
For never has Your goodness failed me.
I humbly ask forgiveness of my sins;
I have offended my God so often,
And fallen short of Your holy standard,*
But the blood of Jesus covers all sin.
Deliver me from the hand of evil;
May no sin have a foothold in my heart
Protect me from all hurt and any harm;
Either in body, spirit or in mind.
I give You command of my days on earth.
Let Your will become my only passion.
Forbid I live even one day vainly,
Or waste my life in self-seeking pursuits.
May I do whatever good when I can;
Let me serve the people of this world,
And may all I do be done in Your name.

A PRAYER TO BE A NOBLE PERSON, A Prayer for April 13

Oh, Heavenly Father, You are All-Good
I thank You for the protection You give.
If I sleep or am awake You guard me.

Fill me of that same spirit of the Master,
He, the One, "Who went about doing good"*
Exchange my selfishness for pure virtue,
May I discern the noble from the vain,
And not spend my life on unworthy dreams.
Enable me to conquer temptation.
Grant me Your measureless strength in weakness,
And Your awesome power when I am faint.
May I become more thoughtful of others;
Make me tender with those who have sorrow,
Help me to be loving to the downcast,
And let me be generous to the poor.
May I be merciful to the oppressed
Grant me a kind spirit toward all men.
Make the words of my mouth sweet and gentle.
May I seek the wayward and lift his load,
If any are mournful may I bring comfort,
And help me to defend the oppressed-
To stand near-side and share their suffering.
Let my joy be good deeds done in Your name.
That God is pleased shall be my great reward.

A little commentary: When we live for the good of others we become a better person for it. It is something we are not able to do on our own but we need the power of God's Grace and the energy of his Holy Spirit living in us. Jesus is the example of the noblest and virtuous person who ever lived. His whole life was a life of service which was most clearly seen when he sacrificed himself on the cross for our sins.

Please indulge my invention of a new word, "near-side" but I wanted to convey not just standing near and not just standing beside but both and more. It helped me keep the meter to ten beats.

PRAYER FOR GOOD CONDUCT AMONG MEN, A Prayer for April 9

Father God of Life, Light, and Love,
You watch over all that I do.
Let me be a blessing today,
As was The Good Samaritan;*
Whose good deeds endured the ages.
Make me faithful in all my acts.
Help me to always do my best.
May I welcome the honest task.
Guide me in all my decisions.
Help me to be honest and fair,
And considerate of others.
Make me thoughtful toward strangers,
And gracious to the needy ones.
Guard me against any vain word.
Keep me from the unworthy thought.
Protect me from the selfish deed.
Draw me close to my friends this day,
Closer to family and kin,
But closest of all to my God.
Make me wiser and more noble,
Having honored my Lord this day.
May I be better fit to serve
God and my brother tomorrow
Having been a blessing today.

THE PRAYER OF THE ONE WHO SERVES GOD, Prayer For April 17

Oh, My Father who rules in Heaven,
I am grateful that You have kept me safe
And watched over me all of my days-
Like a shepherd who knows his sheep by name.
I am thankful, and come full of worship
For Your mercy when I am stained by sin.
I take comfort in Your boundless love,
And find confidence in Your power.
I will yield my mind and heart to You.
Help me to live for You every day.
Give me guidance as I go on my way.
May Your Spirit prompt me to choose the good.
Make me aware of how close by You are.
May I always know and do Your wise will.
Help me remember Your words of light.
Make me faithful in my words and actions.
May I fulfill Your purposes for me,
And bring blessing to others in Your name.
Let the Gospel speak its words through my life,
That those searching for true life may find You.
Let my service to You in some small way
Help others to know You and give You praise.
May Your Kingdom come soon to this world,
When You abide in all men's hearts as King.

A little commentary: It is by God grace that we are able to serve God.  He comes into our lives and gives salvation as a gift and we are brought into his kingdom.  We become His servants in doing good to our fellow man, as we yield to his will.  We continue to look to the God for courage, strength, comfort, faithfulness, and guidance.  In serving him we inspire others to come to God more than sermons and doctrine.

"I am the good shepherd and I know my sheep and my sheep know me." John 10:14.

Father in Heaven, Your grace reaches down to lift up.
Help me to come with a pure heart and sincere motives.
Teach me how much I need You and to not depend on myself.
Show me the dangers of choosing to ignore Your presence.
Keep me from sins and every offense that hide Your face from me.
Forgive that I have grieved and quenched Your Spirit.
I surrender my heart to You- may You subdue its rebellion.
Teach me that Your wounds, not my struggle, give victory.
And that it is on Your terms, which give me peace with You.
May fellowship with You bring oneness with my brothers.
Help me to be patient and kind to everyone I meet.
Make my heart like Yours, passionate for those in darkness.
If I have wronged anyone give me the grace to repent and confess.
If any have injured me, enable me to forgive and forget.
Through Your guidance may I be a blessing to those I meet.
Inspire my thoughts and guide my ways for Your praise.
May I commune with You as would a dearest friend.
May we share together the labors of the day side by side.
I pray in his name who gave his life to save and befriend me.

A prayer for communion with God.

A little commentary: When we have communion and fellowship with God we have harmony and peace with others. Our communion with God is by the blessing he gives in his Son. Fellowship with God come through the sacrifice of his Son, Jesus, who died to pay for our sins. It is our sins that have kept us from God and it is sin that bars our fellowship with him.

A PRAYER TO BE LIKE A CHILD, Prayer for April 10

All wise, all loving, Father
You take joy in blessing.
You have made me Your own
As I make Jesus mine.
I confess my weakness,
I am like a child;
With all their weakness
And their imperfections,
But not their purity,
Or their humility,
Or their teachableness,
And trustfulness.
Cleanse me from all my sins.
Grant me the joy and peace
In believing in You.
May I have the pure love

Like a child hold Jesus Hand

That believes all things,
Looks for good in all things,
And that endures all things.
Help me to be faithful,
Steadfast to do right;
And to turn from the wrong.
Bless me in all that I do,
That I, in turn, may bless
All others, Your children.
May I learn the virtues

Jesus said unless you become like a little child you will not see the kingdom of heaven. Children have many virtues that we lose as we become older. It is a good habit to look at those virtues and recover them in our own lives. the most important is the virtue of trusting faith. We must have faith in our loving God and like a child approach him without fear.

A PRAYER FOR MY FAMILY, A Prayer for April 3rd

I bow in Your holy presence, O God,
To thank you for the goodness and mercy
Shown to my family and my household.
I ask Your forgiveness for all our sins
Which have offended Your Holy Spirit.
I pray for grace and ask for guidance
That I may so live as to please You.
And I admit I need Your good mercy,
Help me to honor You in fear and love.
Help me to be the shepherd of this house.
Grant us the protecting care of Your arm,
Shield us from accident and danger.
Give Your blessing to our acts of service,
And prosper the honest work of our hands.
May we each know You in spirit and truth,
And may we know the joy of salvation.
Let this family honor Your design;
That our home be a haven here on earth.
One that is filled with love, joy, and laughter,
As a lighthouse pointing all heavenward.

A little commentary:
I hope this prayer encourages your faith.

First, we must walk in reverence and holiness with our God. There are many things we can pray for our families. I feel the most important is that we love and serve God. It is my prayer that those I love find Jesus as their Savior.

A PRAYER OF THANKFULNESS FOR LIFE,  A Prayer for April 5th

O Father, God, I thank You for life
And for the privilege of living.
Teach me that I live in deeds not years,
In noble thoughts not in breaths taken.
Teach me that he lives best who thinks best,
Feels the noblest, acts the best.
May I, think the highest and best thoughts.
Help me to give the best that I have;
Not that the best may come back to me,
But to show my gratitude for life.
The gift of life makes us all brothers
And children of the Father of Life.
May I find occasion to show love;
Help me to value every kindness.
May I strive for true spiritual life
Of which the physical foreshadows
And promised in the cross of Jesus.
May I live to give my life away
In tribute to him who for us died
And rose to give us eternal life,
And so honor Our God the Father.

The PRAYER OF A HUMBLE MAN. A Prayer for April 30th

I thank You, Heavenly Father,
For the peace You gave through the night,
And for the light of this new day.
You are all gracious, good, and wise;
You meet all my need and comfort,
For food, clothing, and all blessings.
Grant me the grace I need today
And strength for my every duty.
Lead me away from temptations,
For I don't know what this day holds.
Help me to honor You today,
In every thought, act, word, and deed.
Make alive "Your Word" in my heart,
That I may not sin against you.*
May Your Holy Spirit guide me
That I may fulfill Your good will.
Protect and defend me from harm,
For only You give victory.

A PRAYER IF A SUBMISSIVE HEART. Prayer for April 27th.

Almighty God I worship you
And give heartfelt praise to Your name.
I thank You that through Jesus Christ,
My Savior, my Friend, and Sovereign,
You have now become my Father,
I ask that I feel your presence
As I go through this gift of today.
Help me to trust You more each day.
Help me submit all things to You,
Please accompany me this day,
So today may be full of You
And a step nearer to heaven.
In my going forth be my light
And be my guide and my defense.
Give me grace I need for today.
Though You send the days as You will;
Temper days of darkens and storm,
With the days of brightness and peace.
I give myself into Your hand,
To be instructed, and guided;
May You fulfill Your will for me,
Just as it is done in heaven.
Make my life a song of Your praise,
For You are the joy of my soul

A little commentary. 

In our independence driven age we feel offended and frightened by the idea of submitting to authority. We will grow in submission to our loving God when we grow closer to him because as we grow to know him we will desire to submit to him and obey. Submitting to God is a source of blessing and joy. Submission to God starts with giving ourselves to God in devotion then we can give our actions to him.

PRAYER AT THE END OF THE DAY, Prayer for April 29

Thank You, God, for Your Fatherhood,
    And that You have opened my eyes to life
    Through faith in Jesus Christ, my Savior.
By Your grace, I finish another day
    And I come to it full of thanksgiving.
Thank You that Your care followed me all-day-
    Thank You for life, health, and all Your blessings.
Forgive the sins and wrongs of this past day-
    All the moments I failed to keep faith,
    And the times I was thoughtless to others,
    When I lacked kindness, consideration
    And when I was not helpful to others.
Blessed Father, keep guard over me
    And watch all through the dark hours.
Bless me with peace as I lay down to sleep,
    Awake me in safety for another day.
May the morrow bring me closer to You.
Let me grow daily as I walk in You,
And may I better understand Your ways.
    elp me each day to find the path of life,
    And every day, make me more like Jesus.

A PRAYER OF DEVOTION, Prayer for April 28

Dear God and, Heavenly Father.

You made mankind for Your glory,
Yet we are the objects of Your care.
You are ever thoughtful of me,
More than I could be of myself.
I am conscious of my weakness,
I let temptations conquer me.
And I often live in shadows,
Where I am drawn from doing right.
Show me my heart's own deceptions.
Help me to repent of my sin.
Awaken a longing for You.
And for service unto Your name.
Help me to remember this truth-
Only You satisfy my heart.
May I give God my very best,
And put Your mark in every task.
Lest I steal the praise due to You.
When the path of the day seems hard
Give me Your help to stay faithful.
May I help bring forth Your kingdom,
That all men may know You as Lord.
May Your will be done in my life,

Devotional prayer has become a lost art in our modern age. We do not take the time to reverently dwell on the wonders, beauty, and grace of God. I offer this prayer of dedication and devotion to give you some guidelines to base your own devotional prayer.
