The Church Secretary, A Poem About Your Own Faith.

This is a short poem with a rhyme about someone who worked in the church and didn't have true faith. I wrote this in 1980 after a conversation I had with a woman who unlocked the church building, so I could go in and clean the carpets for them.  She worked in that church for many years but didn't believe the Gospel.

THE CHURCH SECRETARY
A Poem About Your Faith

"I'm a Christian." I said, "and I want it to show,
I want to proclaim it in each word and deed."
"I admire that," She said with a face set low.
"That is nice for you but not part of my creed."

Oh, for her I felt so sad.
Though she worked in the church and she helped the poor
Her works didn't  make her glad'
She ignored Jesus' words, "I am the door."

She's been a member since I was a baby
She has heard it all, what more could I say?
All her good works were just an unsure maybe,
Instead of him who said, "I am the way."

(c) Adron

"I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture." John 10:9.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6.

Afar, A Poem Of The Christ

Afar, a poem of the Christ

He saw me from afar,
From a place beyond time;
He said in the "Before"
This one will become mine.

He saw me in danger,
A step from judgment's door;
He came as my Savior,
And shows me heaven's shore.

He saw I was helpless,
I had no ransom fee;
But as he was sinless
He died to rescue me.

Why he saw me worthy
For him to endure hell?
None knows, but his glory
I will so gladly tell!

At his feet, I kneel
He has all battles won
Love like bands of steel
Binds our hearts into one.

Victory, a Poem of Faith

VICTORY, A POEM OF FAITH

The Captain of the host cries,
"It's time to break camp.
You soldiers of the Lord arise
And take up your lamp."

Stand between the light and dark.
Set in front of your eyes
The victor with scar's deep mark,
The price paid for love's prize.

Our battle is won by death
By He who died for sin.
The wonder is just our faith
And not more brings us in.

Stand beneath that rough-hewn cross,
Where war with sin is done.
Fear nothing, not shame nor loss;
And know The Lord has won!

Light On My Way, A Poem

Light on my way, a poem.

In a land of shadows
I shall walk in clean light;
Near me are dark troubles
But He makes my way bright.

Though I climb dark pathways
I look to see my guide.
He is with me always
And will not leave my side.

Through fog for a season
This true friend walks with me
And oh what a person-
My Lord and God is he!

He knows the way before
Though I see mist and foam;
I hold his hand secure,
And know he leads me home.

Trust Jesus, A Poem

Trust Jesus

Trust Jesus through the stormy gale
Think not if your faith is great or small.
Reject fear- the Lord will not fail;
He is but waiting to hear your call.

When the way is clear give him praise,
And cover the rocky path with prayer.
Trust Him in the darkest of days.
He is waiting for your load to bear.

Hope in him as he directs your way.
Follow him to the Victor's bright Land;
Where he is as the light of the day,
And richest blessings flow from his hand.

The Father's Work, a Poem

THE FATHERS WORK
A Poem.

The Father with loving care sees our need
To mature and produce fruit that will bless.
A farmer knows pruning will do this deed
A cutting will remove that which bears less.*

God becomes a surgeon that makes no err;
His design is always for our true good.
It sorrows Him for the pain we must bear
To become such treasure He knew we could.

Keep patience- your bitter pain will soon end.
In mercy and kindness God does His task.
With seasons short passing your heart will mend,
And happy in blessed joy you will bask.

Adron

"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. later on however it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
Hebrews 12:11, NIV.

*Gospel of John 15:2.

I hope these words are an encouragement. God in his love knows we need to change and mature from our old ways to a lifestyle of blessing and service. Sometimes the process is painful as he takes away things that are harmful or stunt us as his children. No matter how difficult the time we go through God has a purpose in it. We can look forward to a time when God will accomplish the good in us and we will be people who are a blessing to others and experience blessing in our lives. Trust in God.

God's Voice, a Poem

GOD'S VOICE.
A Poem

In His creation, I see God's voice
As if we live in His symphony;
But the ovation is each man's choice,
So I shall give thanks as melody.

In the majesty of cliff's far height,
Or the deep sea's dark vast wonderment,
Is a tapestry of such great might-
I fall to knees in my amazement.

He is glorious in all He made,
I call His name with sure confidence;
For His marvelous rule shall not fade,
No less can time end His deliverance.

Songs, a Christian Poem of Devotion.

Songs, A Christian Poem Of Devotion

I praise you O God my Redeemer,
Of your great name do I sing.
I will forever be love's debtor,
So my devotion I bring.

O God, my Rescuer, you I bless;
For from sin you set me free.
You must increase and I become less,
In you I find the true me.

I join with all who give you worship;
Our united hands we raise.
Your spirit gives our voices the script,
We bring you our combined praise.

I will praise you all my days on earth,
Just to give vent to my love;
And consider the time spent well worth-
To sing the opus above.

Jesus A Friend True, A Christian Poem

In Jesus I find a friend so true,
To me he is everything;
For he has given me life anew-
Of his great love will I sing.

He is the dawn's light to my soul
For my fulfillment he is the key
By his blood I have been made whole
And from sin he has set me free.

All my sorrows he gently bears
My sin's guilt he has taken.
He is the fortress for my fears
And my rock never shaken.

He is the friend who will never leave
No matter how dark the hour.
To my side he will ever cleave
Just his name makes demons cower.

He gives a love that cannot end;
I rejoice in hearing his call.
He is more than just a best friend;
I am his, but he is my all.

Joyfully To Praise God, A Poem of Worship

Joyfully To Praise God

I praise God who rules from heaven above,
Who commands each atom of creation;
Greater than that He is the God of love,
And yet He is the Lord of Salvation.

I praise God, He is my maker- and more,
He has shown me mercy for all my wrongs;
He is a God I can't help but adore,
I gladly sing to Him my praiseful songs.

I praise my Lord for He is always near,
I call on my God when in distress;
Because of His great love I shall not fear-
A love that will never cool nor grows less.

I praise my God, who all my longing fills,
In his kingdom He gives me a good place.
All of my anxious doubts He gently stills.
Sweet joy of heaven this is just a taste!

I worship God as joyfully I go,
With voice out loud or just in silent praise;
Be it on hill top high or valley low,
I will worship Him all my earthly days.

I Bow Here Now, a Christian Poem of Confesson

I Bow Here Now,
A Poem Of Confession

I bow here now, for I have no plea
Against judgment divine and hot;
Except Jesus blood was shed for me
Cleansing my sin's every last spot.

I bow here now, in myself I doubt,
With reason and confused in mind.
Jesus- Him my life must be about!
In his name- victory I find.

I bow here now, for I have believed
Your promise of love once unknown;
Your gift of true life I have received-
I belong to Jesus alone.

Some People Just Say

Some People Just Say

Thank you is something we may say
Maybe our parents taught us to.
For some of us it's just our way
Or it is the right thing to do.

Good manners are all very fine.
My purpose is a different one.
I truly mean these words of mine.
Thank you for all that you have done.

This Is A Day The Lord Has Made. A Christian Poem

This short poem is written by the Poet of Faith.  It is written in rhyme and celebrates the blessing of having another day to live and serve God.

* * * * *

This Is The Day The Lord Has Made.

This "today" is a day the Lord has made.
From dawn to dusk is all His good design.
Let us give thanks to our God and be glad
And let us our will to His plan resign.

He has woven this day with bright blessings,
And balanced it with moments of sweet rest.
He has ordained the times of faith's testings
With loving kindness, He pursues our best.

Many dawns we may see- they are countless;
Although their end sum will pass too briefly,
Every detail of each day is dauntless-
Let's fully live this one day completely.

This day- let's serve Him risen from the dead;
Who by his blood Satan's empire fell.
We have a task- Jesus' true light to spread
Hallelujah! Let us this good news tell.

May today finish with praise to our King;
God who sent His only and precious son.
Of the Holy Lamb that was slain, we'll sing,
As do the angles who surround his throne.

Bless the Lord, for one day our name He calls.
"Well done faithful servant," we'll hear Him say,
"Come to the Lamb's feast in heavenly halls,
Enjoy blessing in this unending day."

Wells of Mercy, A Christian Poem

Wells Of Mercy

How deep is God's well of mercy?
Is there enough to bridle God's wrath;
Against my sins vast as the sea,
So numberless far beyond man's math?

I have turned my back to His grace,
To His gentle call, I closed my ears,
I have snubbed Him to his face,
And so grieved Him through endless dry years.

Jesus, I call on You to save.
I now kneel low before Your feet.
To know Your love is what I crave,
But your pardon I first come to seek,

This vain selfish life I lament.
My heart of dark sin I so deplore.
Help me Lord to truly repent,
And give myself to you evermore.

Mercy enough- I find it's true!
His love covers like an ocean swell.
He cleanses sin and makes anew,
God's grace is like a bottomless well.

Abba Father, a Poem

Abba Father, A Poem

I may boldly call you Abba Father
As a privilege given through Jesus' name;
I who used to belong to another
Both adoption and son-ship I may clam.

His blood freed me from my sin and my guilt,
Now through the Lamb of God I shall draw near;
Where because of former sin I would wilt
Now approach without judgment or fear.

I chose a wasteland over your garden,
But you searched for me out of your pure love.
Gave a father's kiss, and a kings pardon;
Then welcomed me to bright mansions above.

The constraint of justice is satisfied,
Not one charge against me shall ever stand;
Because of the wounds of one that had died
My life is held secure by Abba's hand.

Now before man and angles I declare
How Abba my God and king I adore.
I offer my service to him so fair,
and love him, my Father, forevermore.

(c) Adron Dozat

Footnote. The term "Abba" is the Aramaic name of endearment for a father it's the same as saying Daddy or Papa. Jesus used this term in his high priestly prayer in the Gospel of John chapter 17.

The Cross I Have Taken.

The Cross I have Taken.

Jesus, I have taken up your cross,
The Cross I Have Taken, Poem
I leave all I have to follow you.
To me the world will be as loss,
In favor of the one who is true

I turn my back on all ambition;
Status, gain, pride- I refuse it all.
I choose a richer heart condition
The blessing of answering your call.

Though my friends despise and reject me
I grieve for it is you that they spurn;
For your blood gives life eternally-
A gift so great we could never earn.

Life's way may be hard and the path rough,
But by your cross I may claim the right
To ask of God grace more than enough
And my darkest day will fill with light.

The cross gives grace to live in power,
I hardly know all it is to me;
No mere fashion for the church hour
But true eternal life and glory.

Too soon shall my earthy mission end,
Only you know the count of my days.
Because of the cross I shall ascend
Where faith turns to sight and prayer to praise.

Morning Glories, a Poem

Morning Glories
A Poem
This is a short and sweet poem written in freestyle. It expressed gratitude to God for one of His little blessings on the path through this day.

I hope it gives you a little blessing today.

Morning Glories
A Poem

Morning Glory illustrating a poem

Lord God, I give you thanks,
For there in my garden
Grow Morning Glories.
Blue, violet, and scarlet
Splashes of bright colors
Blooming for mere hours-
Frail velvet until
They wilt like discarded
Wet limp tissue.

Lord God, please remind me
Every morning to go
Outside and be witness
Of this visual praise.
Such poor curators we
Who let gifts from Your hand
Pass by us un-mourned,
Overlooked.

Lord God, You plant blessings,
Help me learn this habit
To start each day looking
For Your hand made beauties;
Lest I let some other
Small wonders drift away
Without veneration,
Or a "Thank You."

Nos And Can'ts

Nos and Cant's
This is a short rhyming poem about the love and care of Our Heavenly Father. I hope it encourages you. You may print a copy.

_____________________________

Nos And Can'ts
A Poem

There is no day so dreary
That His love can't give it light.
There is no heart too weary
That He can't charge with his might.

No wasteland is so deserted
That we can not hold His hand.
There is no falling so sordid
To keep us out of His land.

There is no path too rugged
That against Him we can’t lean.
There are no tears so acid
That He can't wipe them all clean.

There is no hill climb so steep
That He can’t walk at your side.
There are no waters so deep
That can resist His love’s tide.

The Lesser and Greater Love

The Lesser And Greater Love
A poem

Oh to live worthy of God's wonderful goodness!
What joy it is to walk with our Lord faithfully!
We know that He must increase and we must grow less,*
But our love for God is hot and cold randomly.

We have trials by day and sorrows through the night
When we begin to doubt that God has heard our cries.
Do not give up in the desire to do right,
Because living to please God is a worthy prize.

When all our trials cause us to become worried
Remember our past times of God's deliverance;
It was by His love we were lifted and carried,
And His perfect love has held us up ever since.

The Still Calm Seeker of God, a Poem

The Still Calm Seeker Of God

We want to know God through good deeds, effort, and work;
The religion of man is full of all kinds of doing.
You would never know love through all that gloom and murk,
"Be still and know me,"* are the words of His wooing.

Those who seek to please The Lord  please Him just as well
When they stop their efforts and wait quietly;
And in that moment of calm they let their heart dwell
In the presence of Him who is Almighty.
