THE CALL

The Call, a Poem

Atop earth’s peaks
beneath a blue sky
humanity
stands on granite stone
lifting empty shaky hands
asking,
“Won’t somebody love me?”
The universal desire:
millions of voices,
saying,
“I want to be loved.”
What happened to
perfect answer?
Who stole the power
of Jesus’ words,
“For God so loved
the world that he gave
His only Son…?”*
When did His words become
only cultural?
Doesn't Jesus mean
it personally?
For me?
Above the peaks of stone
God
with open, kind hands
is saying
“I love you…
You.”

For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
