To Bring the Light. A Prayer for October 5th.
I thank You, blessed Lord
To be brought safely here,
For each day offers hope.
My heart brings grateful praise;
May my lips affirm You,
And my life declares thanks.
Help me to display faith
Through acts of gracious love.
Keep Your bright angles near,
Watch all my going out,
And guard my coming in.
Keep me from evil snares,
Guard me from foolish ways.
May I bear Jesus' light,
Where fear and darkness reign;
Help me to combat sin,
And may I support good.
Show me the needy soul
Whom I may gently love.
May Your true Gospel spread
So that day quickly comes
Where all men cherish life,
And each man values truth,
When love fills every heart.
And all will honor Christ.
