Prayer for the Homeless, Prayer for Feb 7

Daily Prayer
February 7
This prayer-poem for today is a thoughtful celebration of God's mercy to others through us.

Though this would be appropriate for a reading in a service I suggest one reads this a few times and then pray it in your own words. You may print a copy and take it with you and read it.

I hope it blesses your day.

Prayer For The Homeless
Prayer for February 7

Thank You Father, God of all Love,
You have given me such rich blessings.
Do not let Your good mercies blind me
That I not see my brother in need.
For the homeless and lonely I pray;
For some the loving home is a dream;
To some it is a mournful regret,
Give them a good place of warmth and light.
Remember the wayward and lost ones-
They who are bereft of shelter.
Be merciful to the wanderer;
To the troubled and restless give peace.
Show compassion to the orphan one.
Set good food before the hungry one.
Bring good companions to the friendless.
Comfort those far from families' love.
Reward the victim who has seen wrong.
Oh, Infinite Compassionate God
May Your message of love come to these.
Let Your gospel of new life change us,
And make ready the hands of good men
To lift burdens off of their brothers.
I ask this in the name of Jesus.

We must pray for those who are not as fortunate as ourselves but we also must be the hands of the Lord and lift the burdens of our brothers, therefore it is as much a prayer for ourselves as it is for the needy. Jesus said, "As much as you have done it to the least of these it is as if you had done it unto me." Matthew 25:40. The Gospel changes lives and we hope it changes the lives of the poor, but more importantly is that it changes our lives to be a blessing and load lifter to the poor brothers.
