Chromium, Status and Treasure

Chromium, Status and Treasure

She slept in the driveway
Filled with spiders and weeds
Dead flies in the window
Glazed doors once shiny
And next years model new.
A crisp image that filled
Our eyes with laser pride.
It made us feel big
When seen sitting inside,
Important citizens
Gliding down the old street
A cool status symbol
On the white chrome bumper.
The motor grinds its gears
As the tow truck backs up.
She has no blue book value
After fifty payments.
She once was a beauty
The sum of many parts
Now she is sold for parts,
Leaving a greasy spot.
